Nationwide climate-sensitive models for stand dynamics and forest scenario simulation

Projecting forest dynamics as a function of alternative management strategies and climatic conditions is key to develop sound policy planning. In Spain there need for full set climate-sensitive individual-tree growth yield models suitable country-level simulations. this paper we present environmentally driven stand based on distance-independent yield. The data model calibration are the second, third fourth surveys Spanish National Forest Inventory, including 50,359 plots 838,620 trees, representing broad gradient in types environmental conditions. results total 182 diameter increment, height height, survival ingrowth 27 species groups. integrated into projection system perform simulations resulting changes provision ecosystem services, effects climate, management. Its potential illustrated through an array region Catalonia under scenarios. projections provide solid basis simulation national or regional scenarios, with possibility being applied other regions, may be used future planning efforts.
